Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support the perioperative team in the Operating Room. The role includes assisting the surgeon, scrubbing, and acting as a second circulator under RN supervision. We offer varied shifts and scheduling options to fit lifestyle and career goals.

We value teamwork, ongoing training, and state-of-the-art facilities. Full-time and part-time positions qualify for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, with relocation available for moves over 50 miles.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology.
• Eligible for Basic Life Support within 30 days (AHA).
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or equivalent licensure/certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Maintains asepsis and sterile environment during procedures.
• Organizes and coordinates supplies and equipment to keep the department efficient.
• Performs intraoperative tasks including scrubbing and assisting surgeon.
• Ensures patient safety and compliance with hospital policies.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology applied to perioperative care.
• Supports nurses and physicians in planning patient care.
• Operates autoclave sterilization units and assists with room turnover.
