Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team in a fast-paced perioperative setting. You will serve as a key member assisting the surgeon, functioning as first or second assistant as needed under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology.
• 2+ years operating room scrub experience.
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or CST license (or equivalent) within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a sterile environment following aseptic principles.
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to support efficiency.
• Performs preceptor duties and assists in room turnover.
• Assists surgeon and RN during procedures (suctioning, tissue handling, positioning, etc.).
• Charges for equipment and supplies and participates in patient care planning.
