Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Surgery/Special Unit Coordinator in Warrensville Heights, OH, at South Pointe Hospital. The role involves coordinating all procedures, admissions and appointments to maintain unit organization and patient flow.

Hours are 8:30am–5:00pm with no weekends or holidays; a work-from-home option may be available after 6 months, totaling 2 days per week. The candidate should excel in data accuracy, scheduling, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years related experience in areas with medical terminology, patient registration, billing or scheduling.
• OR 3 years of customer service concierge experience.
• Working knowledge of computerized appointment/scheduling systems, patient billing or insurance processing.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy of system-wide master patient index through validation and capture of patient demographic data.
• Validate patient physician information and ensure accurate collection.
• Identify patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services.
• Triage appointments based on diagnosis, patient preferences, and physician specialty.
• Coordinate services and provide special instructions as requested by patients and physicians.
• Perform scheduling intra- and inter-departmentally as requested by physician orders.
• Receive orders and schedule according to protocol.
• Ensure accuracy of data including CPT coding and case information.
• Serve as liaison with admitting office regarding hospital reservations and update admission information.
• Act as a resource to department personnel on daily activity.
• Communicate with patients and families to provide detailed instructions and resources.
