Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking a surgical scheduling coordinator to manage internal surgery scheduling under physician orders. You will coordinate OR blocks, anesthesia, and required staff, and inform patients of pre-operative testing and prep details.

The role requires communication with physicians, staff, and patients, plus processing authorizations and ensuring compliance with policies. We offer opportunities for growth in a supportive oncology team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, schedule internal surgery from physician orders.
• Coordinate OR date/time, anesthesia, assistants, and outside representatives or equipment.
• Provide pre-operative testing information ordered by physician.
• Obtain insurance authorization and pre-certification with CPT/ICD-10 codes.
• Communicate surgical information and prep details to the patient.
• Assist in orienting and training junior staff.
• Support US Oncology Compliance Program and ethics standards.
