Job summary

Minnesota Oncology is seeking a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to manage operating room scheduling under physician orders, coordinating with anesthesia, surgical staff, and external representatives.

Under minimal supervision, you will obtain pre-operative testing, secure insurance authorizations, explain patient responsibilities, and ensure charts and reports are properly updated while supporting a compliant, patient‑centered workflow.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-2 years of surgical practice/office scheduling experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to multitask.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Schedule operating room dates and anesthesia per physician orders.
• Coordinate pre-operative testing and insurance pre-certifications.
• Communicate surgical information and prep to patients.
• Obtain necessary authorizations in a timely manner.
• Ensure reports are captured in patient charts.
• Release OR blocks and support OR utilization.
