Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years of experience in health care and minimum one year in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to handle stress and maintain composure.
• Flexible with hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries in the scheduling system with relevant details and coordinate with physician offices.
• Answer phones in a courteous manner and address physician and patient needs; transfer as needed.
• Perform pre-registration and obtain physician authorization before scheduled surgeries; complete registration paperwork.
• Maintain log for cancelled appointments.
• Handle clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, mailing surveys, and chart preparation.
• Keep the scheduling area clean and orderly; ensure timely verification of all cases.
• Inform patients with financial responsibilities about policies and payment options; document all interactions.
• Document insurance verifications and patient communications in the patient record.
