Job summary

SCA Health in Boynton Beach, FL is seeking a scheduling specialist to support surgery scheduling, registration, and front-desk tasks. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in health care and minimum of one-year experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
• The candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist and registration responsibilities; must handle stress.
• Flexible with hours and able to work whichever shift is to be covered.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgeries in surgery template in the computer, with pertinent information and handles calls from physician offices for scheduling.
• Answers phone pleasantly, assists physician offices and patients’ needs expeditiously; takes messages and transfers calls.
• Performs pre-registration and ensures physician authorization prior to surgery; completes paperwork for registration.
• Maintains log for cancelled appointments.
• Performs clerical duties such as photocopying, mailing surveys, and preparing patient charts.
• Maintains clean and orderly surgery scheduling area.
• Verifies all scheduled cases promptly.
• Contacts patients regarding financial responsibility and explains center payment policies with options.
