Job summary

UC San Diego Health in La Jolla is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate front office duties, scheduling, and authorizations in a busy ambulatory setting.

The role requires 3+ years of related experience, knowledge of third party payors, and strong communication skills. You will work with patients, physicians, and staff as part of a 10-hour shift schedule, typically Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• A minimum of three (3) years previous related experience including customer service experience.
• Experience as a surgery scheduler.
• Demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.
• Strong problem solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.
• Proven computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
• Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone.
• Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications i.e., Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and coordinate front office duties.
• Coordinate co-pay collection, appointment scheduling, authorizations and referrals.
• Serve as aresource for patients, physicians, staff and ambulatory care managers; perform related duties as assigned.
