University of California - San Diego Medical Centers in San Diego is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to be the first point of contact for patients, coordinating front office duties, greeting patients, collecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, and handling referrals.
The role supports physicians and ambulatory care managers; requires strong customer service, multi-system navigation, and EPIC experience.
Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Surgery Scheduler is the first point of contact for patients. The Surgery Scheduler performs and coordinates front office patient centered duties, to include, but not limited to, greeting patients, co-pay collection, appointment scheduling, authorizations and referrals. The Front Desk Coordinator serves as aresource for patients, physicians, staff, and ambulatory care managers. Other related duties as assigned.
A minimum of three (3) years previous related experience including customer service experience.
Experience as a surgery scheduler.
Demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.
Strong problem solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.
Proven computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone.
Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications i.e., Outlook, Word and Excel.
Annual Full Pay Range: $60,865 - $80,304 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $29.15 - $38.46
