Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate appointments and surgical services across departments. This fully onsite position supports Epic-based scheduling and patient access within a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

You will collaborate with surgeons, APPs, nurses, and care teams to optimize access, improve patient flow, and ensure timely procedures. Monday–Friday schedule with some weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in patient access or scheduling.
• Certification: CHAA or CRCR within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical appointments and related scheduling activities through Epic work queues.
• Schedule surgical procedures, preoperative appointments, provider visits, imaging, and labs.
• Assist with patient check-in and check-out as needed.
• Respond to patient calls and appointment inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
• Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, nurses, and care team members.
• Ensure coordination based on provider instructions and clinical protocols.
• Support efficient patient flow and maximize scheduling capacity and access to care.
• Communicate scheduling updates to patients and clinical partners.
