Job summary

The Surgery Scheduler at UVA Health is an onsite role that coordinates surgical appointments and procedures across multiple specialties, collaborating with surgeons and care teams to improve access and patient flow.

Working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment, you will use Epic workflows, assist with check-in/out, and respond to inquiries while aligning with provider instructions and clinical protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Experience: 2+ years demonstrated experience in J2235 Patient Access O2.
• License/Certification: CHAA or CRCR required within 18 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical appointments and related scheduling activities through Epic work queues.
• Schedule surgical procedures, preoperative appointments, provider visits, imaging services, laboratory appointments, and other necessary services.
• Assist with patient check-in and check-out activities as needed.
• Respond to patient calls and appointment inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other care team members.
• Ensure appointments and procedures are coordinated appropriately based on provider instructions, scheduling requirements, and clinical protocols.
• Support efficient patient flow and help maximize surgical scheduling capacity and access to care.
• Communicate scheduling updates, changes, and care coordination details to patients and clinical partners.
