Job summary

Acuity Eye Group in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a Surgery Coordinator to assist patients with all aspects of scheduling surgery and coordinating pre-operative preparations, enabling a smooth surgical experience.

You will educate patients on medications and post-op instructions, obtain insurance authorizations, and liaise between patients, surgeons, and hospitals to ensure timely testing and clear informed consent.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: High School education, GED or equivalent.
• DESIRABLE: Ophthalmology industry experience.
• Experience in a medical office and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with scheduling surgeries and coordinating pre-operative preparations.
• Verify patient demographics, health history, and insurance information.
• Proficiently navigate Care Cloud EMR or similar systems for scheduling.
• Serve as liaison between patient, surgeons, and hospital for pre-operative tasks.
• Explain need for physical exam, labs, EKG, chest x-ray, and informed consent.
• Handle patient inquiries by phone and follow up with physicians and labs as needed.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to policies.
• Communicate progress and issues to supervisor; ensure a clean, welcoming environment.
