Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the physician during surgery in the Operating Room for multiple specialties. The role supports patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and serves as a clinical specialist across service lines.

Qualifications

• GED or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or LPN program is required.
• Minimum 3 years of surgical tech experience with certification; or 7 years experience in lieu of degree for a total of 10 years of surgical tech experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during surgery in the Operating Room for multiple specialties under RN direction.
• Serve as a clinical specialist across service lines and maintain surgical specialties as needed.
• Act as a resource and participate in detailed surgical endeavors within the surgery department.

Functions as a clinical specialist across numerous service specialty lines. Assumes additional responsibilities for maintaining surgical specialties as necessary and serves as a resource. Functions on a more global level and is more involved in detailed surgical endeavors related to the surgery department.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or LPN program Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of expereince and Surgical Tech Certification Required or
• In lieu of degree 7 years of experience can be substituted for certification for a total requirement of 10 years of Surgical Tech experience. Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
• LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure Current GA LPN License, if applicable Upon Hire Required or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Upon Hire Required
