Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn managing a driver count and non-traditional shifts while ensuring safe, on-time freight movement. You will develop relationships with drivers and carriers, assist with payroll and budgeting, and support performance reporting at customer sites.

The role trains you to optimize fleet operations, balance equipment, and maintain safety standards, with opportunities to grow into leadership across multiple shifts and accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1 year management/transportation experience required.
• Willing to travel to account locations and work nights/weekends as needed.
• Ability to work across shifts and regions with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safe carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train and assist drivers and staff in internal and customer systems.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations and provide profitability insights.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Handle payroll, Net-Revenue budget, pay issues, invoicing, and reporting.
• Manage yard activities, equipment maintenance, and safety issues.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues.
• Maintain safety culture with daily/periodic safety actions and DOT compliance.
• Plan loads, route freight, monitor movement, and adjust as needed.
