Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn and manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will support safe, timely freight movement, load assignment, and exceptional customer service while being trained for DOT compliance and regulatory adherence. The role offers exposure to fleet operations, payroll and budgeting tasks, and the chance to develop leadership abilities in a fast-paced logistics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, OR HS diploma with 1 year related experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company events when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Experience managing a team is a plus.
• Ability to recognize and resolve conflicts and adapt to changing environments.
• Strong analytical and customer-service focus are valued.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and work on projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to manage training and orientation of drivers and employees including internal and third-party systems.
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customer locations and present findings to stakeholders.
• Gain knowledge on inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment.
• Assist with payroll, Net-Revenue budgeting, invoicing, and operational reporting.
• Learn yard management including vehicle inspection and maintenance coordination.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and improve routing and planning.
• Support safety programs and DOT compliance expectations across operations.
