Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn and oversee a small driver count with non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

The role focuses on safe, timely freight movement, load assignment, and top-tier customer service while ensuring DOT compliance. You'll gain experience in planning, routing, monitoring, and delivering freight, while coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize operations and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management or related field OR HS Diploma with 1 year of related experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends
• Willingness to relocate regionally based on account assignment
• Experience managing a team is preferred
• Ability to adapt to changing environments and handle conflicts effectively
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to meet or exceed driver/team needs and provide excellent service

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure smooth new carrier setup and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability
• Train in personnel management, including driver training and orientation
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customer locations and present findings
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Perform payroll, budgeting, incident reviews, and invoicing related tasks
• Coordinate with maintenance for preventive maintenance and safety issues
• Resolve service issues, routing, and plan adjustments as they occur
• Maintain safety culture through driver safety messages, trainings, and compliance with DOT requirements
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to meet on-time delivery and customer requirements
