Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. invites applicants for a Manager Trainee in the Supply Chain department.

The program trains individuals to manage a small driver count, non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends), and ensure safe and timely freight movement with strong customer service. It includes training on DOT compliance and supervision of drivers and staff. Responsibilities cover carrier setup, fleet optimization, reporting, payroll and budgeting, safety, and improving profitability

Qualifications

• Willing to travel to account, customer and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.
• Experience managing a team is preferred.
• Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.
• Adaptability to changing environments.
• Strong relationship building with clients, vendors and peers.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to lead and train drivers and staff on systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special fleet projects.
• Learn personnel management including training and orientation of drivers.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations and present KPI and financial reports.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, pay issue resolution, and reporting.
• Assist with yard management and preventative maintenance coordination.
• Work with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service and routing issues.
• Support safety culture with driver safety messages and training.
• Plan loads and monitor freight movement to ensure on-time service.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain

High School Diploma/GED
