Jobtailor in Alabama is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on assigned projects, coordinate trades, supervise field personnel, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining OSHA safety standards.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in commercial construction (hospitals, high-rise buildings, casinos, or offices), OSHA 10/30, and relevant licenses; prefabrication and P6 Primavera experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as a Superintendent on plumbing/HVAC commercial construction projects.
  • At least 5 years in commercial construction including hospitals, high-rise hotels, casinos, or office buildings.
  • Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • State Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing Contractors License (preferred).
  • Medical gas certification (preferred).
  • Large ($10M+) commercial construction experience (preferred).
  • Experience with prefabrication (preferred).
  • Experience with P6 Primavera (preferred).

Job description

  • Provide leadership and direction for day-to-day field operations on assigned projects
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment through job safety analyses, safety meetings, incident investigations, and employee involvement
  • Lead field operations in conjunction with project management
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities
  • Manage field personnel priorities, staffing levels, performance reviews, salary recommendations, and internal personnel issues
  • Coordinate site construction activities and supervise field personnel to complete projects on schedule and within budget
  • Maintain high-quality installation and enforce construction safety practices
  • Perform material take-offs, tool order requisitions, and equipment rental requisitions
  • Coordinate installation between trades and monitor subcontractor progress
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company work rules, and state, local, and federal legal requirements
  • Schedule equipment deliveries and inspections by governing authorities
  • Conduct staff meetings addressing management, safety, and productivity improvements
  • Manage project labor, material, and other cost budgets and goals
  • Coordinate project start-up and commissioning in accordance with company and project standards
  • Assist with drafting-resource coordination and fabrication/manufacturing quality assurance
  • Implement field productivity improvements and ensure project compliance and quality assurance
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and company culture
Requirements
  • 2+ years of verifiable experience as a Superintendent on plumbing and/or HVAC commercial construction projects
  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial construction, including hospitals, high-rise hotels, casinos, or office buildings
  • At least 6 months of safety training
  • Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • State Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing Contractors License (preferred)
  • Medical gas certification (preferred)
  • Large ($10M+) commercial construction experience (preferred)
  • Experience with prefabrication (preferred)
  • Experience with P6 Primavera (preferred)
  • Ability to travel 0–5% of the time to job sites or office locations
  • Ability to climb stairs and remain stationary, kneeling, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in elevated and/or cold temperature environments for prolonged periods
