GH Engage is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations on commercial projects from preconstruction through turnover. You will lead field teams, coordinate trades, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will drive site performance, read and interpret blueprints, and manage schedules using standard construction software. This role requires strong leadership and clear communication with owners and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of commercial construction or mechanical contracting with supervisory duties.
  • Master Plumber License is required.
  • OSHA 10, CPR, and First Aid certifications required.
  • Trenching and aerial lift certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing/mechanical construction methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
  • Experience using Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Vista.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining schedules and budgets.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations and lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion. This position is responsible for driving project performance, coordinating field teams, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities
Field Operations
  • Direct daily activities of field personnel, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate multiple scopes of work to maintain project sequencing and productivity.
  • Lead jobsite meetings, safety discussions, and trade coordination sessions.
  • Oversee the installation of major building systems, including plumbing, piping, mechanical, and HVAC components.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to keep work on schedule.
  • Perform regular site inspections to verify workmanship, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Planning & Resource Management
  • Work closely with Project Managers to develop and maintain construction schedules.
  • Forecast labor requirements and allocate manpower to support project milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment, tools, and material deliveries to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with procurement planning by identifying upcoming material and resource needs.
Safety & Quality
  • Promote a safety-first culture by enforcing OSHA regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, toolbox talks, and jobsite audits.
  • Ensure all work complies with QA/QC standards, contract documents, and engineering specifications.
  • Verify completed work meets client expectations before project turnover.
Communication
  • Act as the primary field liaison between Project Management, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress updates, and field documentation.
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve field conflicts, manage changes, and mitigate schedule or cost impacts.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with owners, inspectors, architects, and general contractors
Leadership
  • Mentor junior superintendents and field personnel through coaching and hands-on leadership.
  • Support onboarding and training initiatives for new employees.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the jobsite.
Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of commercial construction or mechanical contracting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory position.
  • Current Master Plumber License required.
  • OSHA 10, CPR, and First Aid certifications required.
  • Trenching and aerial lift certifications are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical construction methods and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience using construction software such as Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Vista, or similar project management platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Thorough understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform work in physically demanding environments.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, walking active construction sites, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and uphold company standards at all times.
