Job description

The Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership and direction for day‑to‑day field operations of the assigned projects, to ensure field execution plan the company way to maximize overall business objectives and ensure maximum profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment through safety meetings, incident investigations and employee involvement.
  • Provides key leadership direction for field operations on a project to ensure a cohesive team in conjunction with project management.
  • Coordinates and supervises all construction activities.
  • Manages field personnel priorities relating to technical ability and staffing levels to gain greater efficiencies to improve customer satisfaction and reduce cost. Includes working with business unit manager and operations manager to coordinate hiring of local staff, conducting performance review, recommending salary changes and resolving internal personnel issues.
  • Responsible for coordinating all site construction activities and supervising all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on‑site activities.
  • Performing material take‑offs, ordering tools, material and equipment.
  • Coordinating installation between trades and subcontractor progress.
  • Ensuring all on‑site employees comply with OSHA standards and company work rules.
  • Scheduling equipment deliveries with the general contractor and periodic inspections by governing authorities.
  • Ensures compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements.
  • Ensures quality of work to corporate standards and project requirements.
  • Conducts staff meetings with foremen and field personnel, addressing management issues as well as safety and productivity improvements.
  • Responsible for projects financial labor, material and other cost type budgets and goals.
  • Works with the project team to make sure start‑up and commissioning is executed in accordance with company and project standards.
  • Assists in coordinating and quality assurance of drafting resources and fabrication/manufacturing on the project.
  • Implements field productivity improvements, assures project compliance and quality assurance.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 5+ years verifiable experience as a Plumbing Superintendent and a state plumbing license.
  • At least 5 years of experience in large ($20M+) commercial construction (hospitals, high‑rise hotels, casinos, office buildings, etc.).
  • Must have med‑gas experience.
  • At least 6 months of safety training.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the company’s competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
