Mechanical Superintendent – Sheet Metal / Piping / Plumbing

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing field operations for mechanical construction projects, including sheet metal, piping, or plumbing systems. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and company expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise field crews across mechanical disciplines (sheet metal, piping, plumbing)
• Plan, coordinate, and schedule daily construction activities
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and project requirements
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to drive project success
• Monitor productivity, manpower, and material usage to maintain project efficiency
• Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications
• Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and delays proactively
• Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and daily logs
• Support workforce development, training, and performance management of field staff
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork on-site

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical construction, with supervisory experience preferred
• Strong background in at least one discipline: sheet metal, piping, or plumbing (multi-trade experience highly preferred)
• Proven ability to manage large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects
• Solid understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and cost control
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices
• Proficiency with construction management software and tools is a plus
