Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern for the Water division (Northwest Region). The Summer Intern program offers exposure to diverse water and wastewater projects across multiple locations, including Walnut Creek, CA.

No experience is required beyond current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program, with relocation eligibility and a full-time schedule for the internship. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, support design and construction activities, and

Qualifications

Enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
Prefer coursework in water/wastewater, hydraulics or fluid mechanics.
No prior work experience required; pre-employment steps may apply.

Responsibilities

Develop familiarity with departmental design guides, standards, and policies.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Perform routine research and recommend equipment/material choices.
Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods.
Assist with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables.
Understand internal client needs and gain basic understanding of external client drivers.
Develop and apply knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and delivery methods.
