Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Summer Intern to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple locations, including Tualatin, OR, Walnut Creek, CA, and Rancho Cordova, CA. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting design teams and applying departmental standards in a collaborative, engineering-driven environment.

Qualifications

• No experience required; current enrollment in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical.
• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program focus includes structural, environmental, transportation, or geotechnical.
• 3.0 GPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
