Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Summer Intern to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience across disciplines, supporting diverse, impactful assignments while developing professionally within an employee-owned culture.

The role emphasizes collaboration with design teams, exposure to industry standards, and growth opportunities within BVH's ESOP framework. Office locations include Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Bloomington.

Qualifications

• No experience required; current enrollment in ABET accredited civil engineering program.
• Emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical.
• Basic knowledge of design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
• Basic industry knowledge and technology trends; familiarity with construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading and applying design guides, standards, and BV policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables.
• Focuses on internal client needs while learning external client drivers.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital methods.
