Job summary

Black & Veatch offers a Summer Intern position in Civil Engineering to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple offices including Phoenix. You will gain hands-on experience while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on real-world challenges.

Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program is required. No prior work experience is necessary, and onboarding requirements may include background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Current enrollment in ABET accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search).

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
