Job summary

Black & Veatch invites applications for a Summer Intern in Civil Engineering to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will support design teams from concept through execution and gain hands-on experience across multiple disciplines.

As part of a diverse, employee-owned environment, you will collaborate with engineers, planners, and construction professionals to deliver meaningful outcomes. Office locations include Columbus, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Bloomington, MN.

Qualifications

• No experience required; current enrollment in ABET‑accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding (background check, drug screen, MVR) if selected.
• Interest in water/wastewater, hydraulics and fluid mechanics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems and codes.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar analyses.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates and engineering deliverables.
