Job summary

General Motors seeks a Manufacturing Engineering intern to work across GM assembly sites and corporate locations in the United States. You will help develop processes, equipment, and tools for vehicle assembly and support lean material strategies across multiple launches globally.

You will analyze methods, validate improvements, and assist in designing and validating new automation and tooling. This paid internship requires full-time summer availability and plant environment readiness.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Computer Science, or related).
• Able to graduate between December 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Willing to work any shift, potentially including weekends, in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product, process, and tech to craft best assembly methods.
• Recommend and validate improvements for existing processes.
• Support evaluation of innovative technologies for manufacturing challenges.
• Develop tools to improve program and project management.
• Assist in design, build, and validation of tools and equipment.
• Program manufacturing technology.
• Assist maintenance in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and maintenance issues.
• Coordinate machinery and equipment upgrade projects.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Automation/Mechanical/Industrial)
