Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is offering a summer internship for students pursuing engineering degrees. You will contribute to manufacturing process development, tooling alternatives, sequencing, and efficient material flow to support GM’s plants.

Responsibilities include collaboration with suppliers, cross-center projects, and potential travel to partner plants. Start dates May or June 2027. Onsite work with a one-time stipend program.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in the listed fields with emphasis on welding/joining.
• Must be graduating between Dec 2027 to June 2029.
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
• Willing to work any shift, potentially including weekends.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects supporting development of manufacturing processes & technologies.
• Assist with equipment/tooling alternatives and sequence/flow optimization.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop materials for the paint shop.
• Travel to suppliers/assembly plants to support tools and systems.
• Support continuous process improvements and energy/waste reduction.
