Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road, part of Austin Industries, invites motivated juniors and seniors to join the 2027 Summer Heavy Civil Engineering Internship Program in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You will gain hands-on field experience on major projects under seasoned professionals, earning while you learn this summer.

As a paid, 12-week internship starting May 17, 2027, you will work full-time on site, with mentorship, site visits, and exposure to project planning, safety, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Active junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar.
• Targeted graduation date between August 2027 and December 2028.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week; hours vary by project schedule.
• Must be able to commute onsite to assigned location.
• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support active heavy civil construction projects and field operations.
• Learn how engineering principles apply to project planning, execution, quality, and safety.
• Read construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with project engineers, superintendents, project managers, and field teams.
• Engage in mentorship and explore career paths in project engineering, construction management, and operations leadership.
• Assist with submittals, RFIs, and maintaining logs.
