Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road is seeking interns for its 2027 Summer Heavy Civil Engineering Internship Program in the Austin/San Antonio area. This paid 12-week, full-time internship provides hands-on field experience on multi-million‑dollar projects and mentorship from seasoned professionals.

Interns will support project engineers, participate in safety meetings, learn to read drawings and specs, and explore careers in project engineering, construction management, and operations leadership.

Qualifications

• Active junior or senior college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.
• Target graduation date between August 2027 and December 2028.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week; schedule varies by project.
• Must be able to commute onsite to assigned location in Austin/San Antonio area.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Process submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing and distributing submittals.
• Send RFIs to architects and engineers and follow up.
• Assist with project documentation, shop drawings, and samples.
• Participate in weekly safety meetings and record minutes.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination with trade contractors.
