Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road, part of Austin Industries, is offering a 2027 Summer Heavy Civil Engineering Internship in the Austin/San Antonio, Texas area. The program runs for 12 weeks from May 17, 2027 to August 6, 2027, and provides hands‑on experience on major heavy civil construction projects with mentorship from professional engineers.

Interns are titled Project Intern and will engage in reviewing submittals, issuing RFIs, updating drawings, and aiding with scheduling and coordination.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Eligibility for summer internship in 2027.
• Strong communication and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Assist with submittals, reviews, and distribution.
• Send RFIs to architects and engineers.
• Review plans and specs and resolve issues.
• Update construction drawings and project documentation.
• Attend weekly safety meetings and take minutes.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination.
• Learn and apply construction management software and tools.
• Assist with team meetings and client interactions.
