Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Omaha, NE offers a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship for students seeking hands-on field experience in Tree Care, Plant Health Care, Sales and Client Services. This temporary, full-time position is ideal for college students on summer break.

Rate of pay is $22.00 hourly. Start date is Summer 2027 with flexible scheduling. You'll learn climbing, pruning, removal, safety, and operate tools with training from our experienced crew.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid to do so.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while learning new skills.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn tree identification and pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
