Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Denver, CO invites motivated students to join a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Internship. Gain hands-on field experience in tree care, plant health care, sales and client services while earning $22 per hour.

This on-site internship is ideal for college students seeking practical outdoor work and safety-focused training. You'll work with a climbing arborist team, learn pruning, removal, cabling and equipment operation, and complete required safety courses on hire.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping or working at heights
• Complete Davey Tree orientation program on hire
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire
• Preferred: pesticide licenses as required by state law

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid to do so
• Operate as part of a tree crew while learning new skills
• Learn pruning and removal techniques and safety standards for clients
• Identify trees and apply pruning guidelines
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood in canopies
• Assist in installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts)
• Grow your skills and responsibilities through hands-on practice
