Job summary

WSP USA invites applicants for a full-time Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern position in Freeport, ME (with consideration for Hallowell, ME; Syracuse, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; New York, NY). This 12-week summer internship starts May 17, 2027, as part of the Summer Internship Program.

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering undergraduate or graduate program with an anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
Must be 18 years or older.
Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering and a strong desire to develop related skills.
Interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and tools.

Responsibilities

Assist with a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical and professional skills.
Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
Contribute to project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analyses.
Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
Help collect and maintain project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
