Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern to join our Summer Internship Program. The position supports the Power and Energy Team and can be based in Freeport, ME or at one of several listed offices (Hallowell, ME; Syracuse, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; New York, NY).

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering and career growth in WSP projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical, social, and ethical skills through engineering tasks.
• Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Maintain project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
