Job summary

WSP USA in Portland, OR is offering a Full-Time Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern position as part of the Summer Internship Program. It targets students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Structural Engineering program with a May 17, 2027 start for a 12-week summer term.

Interns gain hands-on experience working with senior staff, mentorship, and exposure to live projects. Note that there is no relocation or housing assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interested in Structural Engineering with a desire to advance skills for WSP’s projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
• Able to take direction from leadership, mentors, and managers on projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Committed to workplace safety and to WSP health, safety and harassment policies.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
