Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern to join our Summer Internship Program. The role will be based in our Freeport, ME office with other locations including Hallowell, ME; Syracuse, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; and New York, NY.

This 12-week summer internship starts May 17, 2027, and requires enrollment in an undergrad or graduate program. You will work with our Power and Energy Team and gain mentorship, exposure to real projects, and opportunities to develop technical

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering Undergraduate program with anticipated graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering and desire to develop skills related to WSP’s projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors and managers to execute projects.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies; handle company funds and resources responsibly.
