Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering Substation Intern to join the Power and Energy Team in our Hallowell, ME office for a 12-week summer program starting May 17, 2027. This internship is for students enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

You will assist with design calculations, field work, and documentation while gaining exposure to real projects under senior staff mentorship. The program emphasizes growth, ethics, and safety, with no relocation offered.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in accredited Electrical Engineering Undergraduate program with anticipated graduation August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering and desire to advance skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to engage with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Uphold workplace safety and comply with health, safety and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical, social, and ethical skills through engineering tasks.
• Learn basic electrical engineering principles.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
• Support preparation of final design plans and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and safety policies.
