Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. You will support utility substation projects by assisting with protection and control design under supervision, developing skills and increasing independence over time.

The role emphasizes basic engineering calculations, adherence to the Quality Control Plan, and collaboration with other substation disciplines to deliver accurate drawings, reports, and documentation for nationwide clients.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 0–2+ years of substation engineering experience for B.S. degree.
• 0–1+ years of substation engineering experience for M.S. degree.
• Basic understanding of the utility grid and electric power principles.
• Strong attention to detail and quality deliverables.
• Proactive communication and teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with protection and control design on utility substation engineering projects.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design.
• Follow the established Quality Control Plan while completing assignments.
• Assist with the preparation of project deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with other substation engineering disciplines as required.
• Assist the team with developing processes and procedures to improve project execution efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and files, and a high level of organization.
• Take opportunities to improve technical knowledge and understanding of the work.
• Support Leidos' goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
