Job summary

Leidos seeks an Associate Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. You will support utility projects nationwide, learn from licensed professionals, and progressively take on greater responsibility in substation design and protection.

The role focuses on teamwork, attention to detail, and delivering high‑quality drawings, reports, and documentation under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Qualifications

• 0–2+ years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a B.S. degree.
• 0–1+ years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a M.S. degree.
• Basic understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distribution) system.
• Strong attention to details and commitment to high quality deliverables.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with Protection and Control design on utility substation engineering projects.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design.
• Follow the Quality Control Plan while completing assignments.
• Assist with preparation of project deliverables including drawings, reports, and documentation.
• Collaborate with other substation engineering disciplines as required.
• Develop processes and procedures to improve project execution efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and files and stay well organized.
• Seek opportunities to improve technical knowledge and understanding of the work.
• Support Leidos’ goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
