Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to join our Power Delivery division. The role will work under supervision to develop substation engineering skills and support nationwide utility projects.

Responsibilities include assisting with protection and control design, basic engineering calculations, and preparing drawings and reports while maintaining high-quality deliverables and organized project documentation.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 0-2+ years of utility substation engineering experience with a B.S. degree; 0-1+ years with an MS degree.
• Basic understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distribution).
• Solid understanding of the basic principles of electric power; strong attention to detail and quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with Protection and Control design on utility substation projects.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design.
• Follow the established Quality Control Plan while completing assignments.
• Assist with preparation of project deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and documentation.
• Collaborate with other substation engineering disciplines as required.
• Assist in developing processes to improve project execution efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and files with a high level of organization.
• Take opportunities to improve technical knowledge and understanding of the work.
• Support Leidos' goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
