Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Substation Project Engineer in Portland, Oregon, to contribute to grid modernization and reliable power systems.

You will work with experienced engineers and coordinate across Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams to deliver scope, schedule, and budget. The role requires a PE license, a bachelor's degree in engineering, and at least 3 years in the Power Market Sector, with proficiency in MS Office and design software such as PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Minimum 3 years' experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
Experience with MS Office and Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).

Responsibilities

Support preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure schedules and budgets are met.
Understand substation design including yard layouts, grounding, protection, and related BOMs.
Understand protection and control design including panel arrangements and wiring diagrams.
Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies).
Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams.
Communicate effectively with manager, clients, and others as needed.
Work independently and mentor/train less-experienced staff.
Perform other duties as needed.
