Job summary

WSP USA in Ft. Mill, SC is seeking a Substation Lead Electrical Engineer (Station P&C) to guide design and execution of utility-scale substations from 12 kV to 345 kV.

You will lead a cross‑discipline team across planning, design, procurement, and construction, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards. You will apply extensive P&C engineering knowledge, perform critical calculations, and produce reports and specifications while coordinating with owners and clients to meet project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer delivering design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission and distribution.
• Proficient with substation P&C engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and project work-related issues for 12 kV to 345 kV substations.
• Extensive knowledge of substation P&C design.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction, including rehabilitation and new design projects.
• Well-developed ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans and specs to applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑level technical guidance for due diligence, investigation, design, development, and construction support of utility-scale substations from 12 kV to 345 kV.
• Review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, one-line diagrams, and protective relaying.
• Develop and review specifications and cost estimates; prepare construction phasing plans and protection schemes.
• Oversee and monitor the P&C team across multi‑discipline projects, including budgets, hours, and expenses.
• Prepare data and visualizations for interpretation and presentation of complex findings.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
