Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a student intern for the Substation Field Engineering Organization in Colorado. The internship provides hands-on training in substation engineering, with tasks that apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects and opportunities to network with other teams.

Ideal candidates are current students in design, automation, electronics, or engineering programs, able to commute to Lipan, and available full-time during summer or part-time in spring.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in design, automation, electronics, or engineering.
• Able to commute to Lipan Distribution service center and work full-time in summer (up to 40 h/w) or part-time in spring (up to 20 h/w).
• PC proficiency: Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform AC and DC auxiliary system calculations.
• Assist with substation engineering design and maintenance tasks.
• Support Field Engineers with inspections and projects.
• Learn to use CAD systems (MicroStation and ProjectWise).
• Assist with processes and document updates.
