Job summary

Leidos in Chicago, IL is seeking an Associate Substation Engineer to join our Commercial Energy Services Power Delivery team. You will work under licensed professionals and contribute to substation engineering design, protection and control, SCADA, and station automation on utility projects nationwide.

Responsibilities include assisting with engineering calculations, preparing drawings and reports, adhering to quality control, and coordinating with other disciplines.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 0–2+ years of utility substation engineering experience with a B.S. degree.
• 0–1+ years of utility substation engineering with an M.S. degree.
• Basic understanding of the utility grid and electric power principles.
• Strong attention to quality, details, and deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist design on Physical Electrical, Protection & Control, SCADA, Station Communications and Automation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design.
• Follow the Quality Control Plan in assignments.
• Prepare project deliverables including drawings, reports, and documentation.
• Collaborate with other substation disciplines as required.
• Help develop processes to improve project execution efficiency.
• Maintain organized records and files.
• Seek opportunities to deepen technical knowledge and proficiency.
