Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Indiana seeks a Substation Engineer to apply and expand your engineering background on high voltage substation and transmission projects. You will join project teams shaping designs and specifications for major electrical equipment and installation services.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, plus relocation support for eligible candidates. Travel to client/vendor sites is possible as part of project coordination.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with strong preference for Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical disciplines, and coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience with agentic AI.
• Understanding of applying electrical engineering principles to project design and the practical use of design techniques in 2D/3D representations.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD assistance and proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with engineers involved in the design of new high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems.
• Participate in power transmission designs and preparation of specifications for major electrical power equipment and installation services.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification.
• Support a hybrid work arrangement with in-office and remote work days and contribute to AI-enabled design workflows.
