Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer (Electrical) to join our Power Group. The role supports or leads utility substation projects from 34.5kV to 500kV with a hybrid work option in several locations including Charlotte, NC. You will collaborate on power delivery projects and client relationships.

Minimum 4+ years in design/engineering within power, with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and a PE license or path to licensure. Proficiency in MS Project and CAD tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer License or on the path to licensure.
• 4+ years progressive experience in design, engineering and project management within power/utility.
• Experience with project management software/tools (Microsoft Project or similar).
• High voltage substation design experience and power delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation layout drawings (plan/elevations, yard layouts, grounding, raceway, cable lists).
• Develop substation one lines, SCADA/Communications Systems, Relay Panel Layouts, wiring, schedules.
• Prepare calculations and reports for clients.
• Prepare equipment specifications for substation equipment and construction.
• Collaborate to pursue regional and national substation projects and grow Gannett Fleming presence.
• Develop client relationships across multiple disciplines and assist in proposals/bids.
