Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer (Electrical Engineer) to join our Power Group. The role offers hybrid work options across multiple U.S. locations, with potential for remote work for the right candidate.

You will lead or support utility/substation projects, delivering design for 34.5kV through 500kV and engaging with clients to advance power delivery solutions. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a PE license or path to licensure, and 4+ years in

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer License or on the path to licensure.
4+ years of design, engineering and project management in power/utility.
Experience engaging with clients in the Power & Utility sector.
Proficiency with project management tools (Microsoft Project or similar).
HV substation design and power delivery experience.

Responsibilities

Develop substation layout drawings (plan/elevations, grounding, raceways, cable lists, material lists).
Develop substation one-line and three-line diagrams, DC/AC power systems, SCADA and comms layouts.
Prepare calculations and reports for clients.
Draft equipment specifications for substation equipment and components.
Collaborate regionally and nationally to pursue power/substation projects.
Develop and nurture client relationships across disciplines and offices.
Contribute to proposals, bids, reports and presentations.
