Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Senior Substation Engineer to join our Power Group. You will lead or support utility and power substation projects from 34.5kV to 500kV and build strong client relationships across regional and national markets.

You will develop layouts, electrical lines, SCADA/communications systems, and equipment specs while managing scope, schedule, and budgets. Hybrid/remote options available for the right candidate, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 8+ years progressive experience in design, engineering and project management within power and utility industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients across 34.5kV up through 500kV.
• Develop substation layouts, one lines, SCADA and communication systems, and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare equipment specs and calculations for substation equipment and construction.
• Manage technical, financial, and scheduling aspects; may serve as project/client/capture manager.
• Mentor staff and collaborate across offices to pursue regional and national substation work.
• Provide QA/QC reviews and contribute to proposals, bids, and client presentations.
