Job summary

WSP USA in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern for its Summer Internship Program. This 12-week internship starts May 17, 2027, with mentorship from senior staff and exposure to real projects.

As part of the program, you will assist with engineering tasks, design calculations, field work, and project documentation while developing technical and professional skills under guidance from experienced engineers. Compensation ranges $23.90–$31.11 per hour.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Electrical Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering and desire to advance skills on projects.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to engage with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Able to take direction from mentors and contribute to projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and related policies; manage resources responsibly.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
